Citizens' Financial Report
Reading audited financial statements can be a daunting task. The Citizens' Financial Report is designed to provide operational and financial information on the Town in a more user-friendly format. It is not an audited document, nor does it include all details of the audit report; rather, this report is intended to increase awareness of the financial operations of Knightdale. Printed copies of the current Citizens' Financial Report are available in the Finance Department at Town Hall.

Annual Audit
All units of government in North Carolina are required by General Statute 159-34 to receive and submit an annual audit report to the Local Government Commission. The Town of Knightdale's fiscal year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th.

In addition to the annual audit requirement of GS 159-34, the Town of Knightdale also prepares an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The ACFR is prepared in combination by the Finance Department and the Town's auditor. Its purpose is to provide transparent and comprehensive access to the Town's policies and reporting.

The Town of Knightdale has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 30 consecutive years. This achievement is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association.
