An integral component of the Police Department's mission is to forge strong community partnerships. As such, the agency conducts community outreach and crime prevention activities to foster and improve police and community relations. These programs are designed to elicit public support and identify real or potential community problems, concerns, and risks. The department and community stakeholders then work collaboratively to solve identified problems, alleviate concerns, and reduce or remove the involved risks. Our partnership with the community is formed through the sharing of timely and relevant information and is built on mutual respect and trust. The department also provides a point of contact to assist community members and stakeholders in accessing available resources such as victim & witness assistance, local mental health providers, drug rehabilitation clinics, counseling services, and much more. As first responders, police officers frequently encounter citizens who need help outside of the criminal justice arena. Our goal is to create ways to assist people in getting the help and resources they need the most.
