KNIGHTDALE, NC – The Town of Knightdale participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics on Wednesday, May 29, at 10 am. Members of the Knightdale Fire and Police Departments served as “Guardians of the Torch” as the Flame of Hope passed from members of the Zebulon Police Department to Knightdale.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics is the largest year-round public awareness fundraising campaign for Special Olympics. Members of various law enforcement organizations, along with Special Olympics athletes, carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening of Special Olympics ceremonies. Annually, more than 110,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry and pass the symbolic torch that embodies the spirit of courage, diversity, empowerment and unity.

“Knightdale’s participation in the torch run brings our community together,” said Rachel Morris, Director of Community Relations for the Town of Knightdale. “Our community running with the torch is a reflection of the Knightdale spirit. It represents a beacon of unity, hope, and the power of inclusion, lighting the way to a brighter future for athletes of all abilities.”
