The Town of Knightdale elected officials, staff, and volunteers partnered with Habitat for Humanity Wake County in the construction of a new home within our community. This initiative reflects our commitment to social responsibility and community development.
One in four families in our community lacks access to affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity Wake County offers homeownership opportunities for homebuyers making less than 80% AMI and preserves existing homes. Habitat Wake also advocates for policy change that increases access to housing for everyone.
This joint effort addresses the critical need for affordable housing while fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within our community. Through our dedicated team of volunteers and Habitat for Humanity Wake County’s expertise, we are dedicated to constructing safe, beautiful, affordable homes that will serve as a foundation for brighter futures.
“Today was about more than volunteering,” Knightdale Mayor Jessica Day said. “It was about public service to our community. This is only one step to ensuring our citizens have access to affordable housing in our town. There is much more to do, and there is more to come from the Town Council.”
Habitat for Humanity Wake County’s mission aligns seamlessly with our values, making this partnership a significant step towards creating a positive impact in Knightdale. Together, we will build not just houses but also hope, strength, and stability for local families in need. Our passion for this project supports our unwavering commitment to making affordable housing a reality in Knightdale.
Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity Wake County has built more than 850 safe, affordable, energy-efficient homes in all parts of Wake and Johnston counties. Financial support is provided by corporations, faith groups, foundations, government grants, individual donors and proceeds from the Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
This year, Habitat for Humanity Wake County will build 34 new homes locally, complete exterior repairs on 50 homes, and advocate for housing aid for families impacted by COVID-19 and property tax relief for homeowners. Learn more at habitatwake.org.
