Joe Edward Struchen was born in Weatherford, Texas on May 9, 1947. He graduated from Benhaven High School in Lillington, NC in 1965 and from Central Carolina Technical College in Sanford, NC in 1966. He married Lillian Lagrand Nunnery on August 5, 1966 and they were blessed with two children, Joanne Lagrand (1969) and Timothy Edward (1971-2020), and one grandchild, Theodore Joe Tyson aka TJ (2000).
Joe was employed by Harmon VW, Raleigh and Wake Forest Chappel Ford, as an Automotive Technician and Service Department Manager prior to his employment with the USPS. Joe became disabled in 1998 with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, along with other multiple health complications and passed away in 2009. Joe was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Wendell, NC, working with the Royal Ambassadors, maintaining the church bus, as well as serving as deacon.
Joe was a hard worker, dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing , skiing, family camping trips, and travel.
