On April 21, 2021, the Town Council approved a Zoning Map Amendment and Master Plan for a residential and commercial/retail development at the intersection of Smithfield and Mailman Roads. The approved plan features a 348 unit multi-family development with approximately 15,440 square feet of retail space integrated into two of the buildings, and 141 residential lots including townhomes and single-family homes. The request rezoned approximately 76 acres from Rural Transition (RT) to Neighborhood Mixed Use with a Planned Unit Development (NMX PUD).
